The Day We Lost Bobbi Jo

I never thought I`d be sitting here writing about my daughters death.
This is something you hear about it on the news or read about it in the newspaper
but you don`t ever think it will happen to you.

On Friday July 17th 2002, as I was getting off work, I went by the mess hall where Bobbi Jo
worked, to show her my new car. She said she had to go straight home after she got off work
cause Michael needed the car to go to work, because his pickup was being worked on.
She was off work the next 2 days and she said she was really tired and was going to stay home
for the weekend,but asked me if I was coming over on Sunday to go to the cemetary with her
to take flowers to Ariauna, as her & I had done every Sunday since Ariauna had passed away
6 months earlier. I told her yes I would be over Sunday morning.

We have alot of unanswered questions as to what took place
the evening of July 17th, that only Bobbi Jo could answer.

Bobbi Jo got home around 3pm, Michael left for work around 5pm, sometime around
8 pm Bobbi Jo ask a friend if she could use her car, this was so unlike Bobbi.
First of all if she had needed a car she could have ask her dad to use his
as she usually did if she needed a car. Also Bobbi never went anywhere besides
work without calling her dad or me to let us know where she would be. She didn`t call
either of us that night. I went to work on Saturday morning July 18th, and around
5am Terry ( my fiance ) came to the mess hall, he was suppose to be on his way to St. Louis Mo.
He told me I needed to get my purse and come with him, I knew something was wrong and I
asked him if it was my mom, he said no just get your things and come with me.
When we were walking to my car I ask again what was wrong, he said
Bobbi Jo was killed in a car accident around 2am.

The next thing I remember is Terry and someone else picking me up off the sidewalk.
I remember screaming at him that he was lying, Bobbi Jo was home and Michael was at work.
I was given some medicine and don`t really remember much else of that day.
The next morning I wanted to know where/why/how any of it could be true.
Bobbi said she was staying home and I would see her on Sunday. Terry said he was walking
out the door to leave for St. Louis when I highway patrolman drove in the driveway and
told him about the accident. I called the highway patrol office and spoke to the patrolman
that worked the accident. He said it appeared that she had either fallen asleep or was trying
to miss an animal. She wasn`t speeding, she just went off the road and the car flipped over,
hit a tree turned over again, at some point Bobbi was thrown from the car, the car then
landed on her then caught on fire. She was NOT wearing a seatbelt.
Again this was so unlike Bobbi Jo, she wouldn`t let anyone ride a block with her
without wearing their seatbelt. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
I don`t know at what point she was killed, I`m affaird to know. I only hope it was instant
and she didn`t know what happened. The only part of her body that
wasn`t burned was her face, she had a small bruise on her right temple.
I ask if alcohol was involved. Bobbi Jo didn`t drink but I had to ask, the patrolman said No.

Bobbi Jo was different after losing Ariauna, but then what mother isn`t.
She had such a sad far away look in her eye`s after Auna died.
Her and Michael had planned to start trying for another Baby in Jan. 2004.
They had just finished paying off Ariauna`s funeral and headstone.
Auna`s headstone was set 1 week before Bobbi Jo was killed.

The Day We Lost Ariauna

The day we lost Ariauna was Christmas Eve. 2002.

Michael, Bobbi and Ariauna were coming to our house to have Christmas with us,
Bobbi wanted to spend Christmas day with her dad.

When I got up that morning it had been snowing alot, we had about 9 inches of snow
and it was still coming down. I decided I didn`t want the kids to be driving in it.
It was about 5 am when I started calling them, couldn`t get an answer,
but thinking it being Christmas Eve, the phone circuits were probably real busy.
After not being able to get ahold of them by 6am I started getting worried,
so I called Bobbi`s dad, couldn`t get an answer there either, now I was really worried.
My first thought was something had happened to Bobbi`s dad,
he had just had lung cancer surgery a few weeks before.
I couldn`t figure out why Bobbi hadn`t called me tho if it was her dad.
I called all the surrounding hospital to see if they had a Jim Sisk admitted or in the ER.

I was upset with the kids for getting Ariauna out, the roads were really bad,
warnings had been issued over the radio that if you didn`t have to get out Don`t.
Not sure what time it was but my sister finally got through to me on my cell phone,
my home phone line had been tied up as my computer was on. Joyce ask me if Terry was here.
I said no he had gone to the farm to feed the cows.
I knew something was wrong cause she never ask if Terry was home.
She said that Bobbi & Michael were at the Emergency Room with the baby.
I thought they had had a car accident, Joyce said no it was the baby, and she was gone.
I said gone where, she said Auna was dead. I remember screaming and crying
and asking how`s Bobbi Jo. She said Jim ( Bobbi`s dad ) was with her.
I called the hospital, (I could here Bobbi screaming I want her back ).
The nurse said it appeared to be SIDS, because when Bobbi woke up
Auna was already gone.

Bobbi and Auna had fallen asleep in the recliner chair when Bobbi was nursing her.
Michael did CPR on her until the ambulance arrived and they worked on her
but it was to late. Bobbi was convinced that she had smothered Auna cause
she was face down and beside her in the chair.

For 3 days until the autopsy report came back Bobbi kept saying she killed her baby.
Ariauna was buried on Bobbi Jo`s 19th birthday.
